Our Baby Boy's Bedroom Design

Scheming about our baby boy’s bedroom was one of my favorite parts about pregnancy. I’ve always had a passion for creating cozy interiors, so bringing baby Ty home to a safe, beautiful, and still functional space (without breaking the bank) has been such a fun project.

As the room came together, I would find myself sipping my coffee in there… sometimes simply sitting & daydreaming. Here is the initial moodboard I put together for the space:

I wanted the room to feel light, bright, and sophisticated…not too babyish. I figured by incorporating natural materials, vintage items, and interesting patterns — all while peppering in different shades of blue (not too matchy-matchy) — I could achieve the look and feel I had in mind!

The three things I paid full price for are the Erin Gates by Momeni rug, Abigail crib, & linen blackout roman shades. I found the dresser (I painted and replaced the knobs) and lamps on FB marketplace. The leather chair was in our house growing up — I actually had it listed to sell. Once we found out we were having a boy, I decided that the soft, worn, espresso-colored leather would be the perfect contrasting element in the nursery. Below are the sources for everything else:

French blue, natural tones, white, and pops of iron are the dominant colors I used in the space. Stripes & scallops are prevalent as well!

Storage that doubles as a cute-almost-sculptural element anchors this corner of the room. What’s not to love?

A photo from our babymoon of our shadows on the Jamaican sand is the perfect reminder of that anticipatory season!

I took the closet doors off and painted the interior the same shade of blue as the bedroom ceiling. Love the view of his itty-bitty clothes.

Now that Tyler is a few months old, I’ve spend many hours in his room. I just love how happy and cozy it is, and I’m looking forward to editing the room as he grows and his needs change!
